A commercial tomato grower in Thessaly, central Greece, was losing fruit quality every summer to the same enemy: heat. Greenhouse interiors regularly pushed past 38°C in July and August, scorching fruit and stalling ripening. The brief was not just “cool it down” — the cover had to cut peak heat without sealing the house, because stagnant humid air invites fungal disease in tomatoes. Ventilation mattered as much as shade.

For greenhouse roofs in the Greek climate, the working answer is a 90% shading, knitted HDPE net: enough shading to pull interior temperatures down several degrees, while the knitted mesh keeps air moving — the combination a solid film cannot offer. At 50 gsm the net is light enough for the existing roof structure and easy to tension and re-tension between seasons.
Every roll was knitted from 100% virgin HDPE with UV stabilization — under the Greek sun, the UV package is what decides whether a net lasts two seasons or many. The order shipped as two 40’HC containers in June 2025, ahead of the peak season.
