Butterfly netting is a fine-mesh crop cover with one job: stop butterflies and moths from reaching the crop to lay their eggs. No eggs means no caterpillars — and no caterpillars means brassicas, salads and garden vegetables grow without sprays, traps or weekly scouting. It is the simplest organic pest-control tool in the catalog.
OMB Textiles knits butterfly netting from 100% virgin HDPE with UV stabilization on our own warp-knitting lines in Changzhou — the same factory we have run since 2003. The mesh drapes over hoops, frames or cages and pins down at the edges, creating a barrier that lets air, light and rain through while keeping the insects out.

Cabbage, broccoli, kale, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts — the crops the cabbage white targets first. Net at transplanting and the crop grows caterpillar-free to harvest.
Raised beds and garden hoops with 2 m and 4 m covers — the exact formats home gardeners and allotment holders buy every spring.
Walk-in cages and low tunnels where the net doubles as light bird protection while keeping moths out of the crop zone.
The 2 m and 4 m roll formats are shelf-ready retail SKUs — folded, bagged and barcoded under your own brand if you run a private-label range.
These two products get confused, and the difference decides whether the cover works. Butterfly netting (5–7 mm mesh) stops butterflies, moths and larger pests — it passes maximum light and airflow, which is why gardeners and brassica growers prefer it. Insect netting (finer meshes from 2 mm) is for the small pests — aphids, whitefly, thrips and flea beetles — that a 5–7 mm mesh would wave straight through. Rule of thumb: if the pest flies in visibly, butterfly net is enough; if the damage arrives as colonies on the underside of leaves, you need the finer insect mesh. One more distinction that matters at bloom time: neither net pollinates — for the crops that need bees, see our netting and pollination guide before you cover them.
Butterfly netting is a spring-season product in every northern-hemisphere market: garden centers and allotment suppliers stock it from late winter, and the selling window is short. We support that calendar directly — production 25–35 days after deposit, a 40’HC loading 14–15 tons, and MOQ of just 2 tons with mixed widths, lengths and colors in one shipment, so a first order can cover the full retail range. Private-label bags, brand cards and barcodes are routine for garden-center programs, and butterfly netting can share a container with our insect netting for buyers stocking both pest-control lines. Samples are free, you cover the courier. Send your target sizes, quantity and destination port via the contact page or WhatsApp — we reply within 24 hours with pricing and a container plan. For crop-specific setup, the butterfly netting brassicas guide covers cover timing and sealing.
5–7 mm is the standard for cabbage whites and other egg-laying moths — small enough to block the adult butterfly, open enough to keep maximum light and airflow over the crop. Finer pests like aphids need insect netting at 2–4 mm instead.
Yes, like any physical barrier — but that only matters for crops that need pollination. Brassicas and leaf vegetables are harvested before flowering, so a net over them changes nothing. For flowering crops like zucchini or strawberries, cover before bloom or use a bumblebee hive under the net — our pollination guide walks through the options.
Between 3 and 10 years depending on grade, site UV and handling — the UV-stabilizer package in the yarn decides it. Hoops and frames that keep the net off the crop, plus dry dark winter storage, move a net toward the top of that range.
Standard widths are 2 m and 4 m, in lengths from 4 m retail packs to 100 m rolls. Custom cuts to your bed, hoop or cage dimensions are a production setting for us, not a surcharge — send the measurements with your inquiry.
Yes — the 2-ton MOQ applies to the whole shipment, so butterfly netting can be mixed with insect netting, bird netting or any other line we knit, each product with its own labels and packaging.
