Anti-hail netting is a fine, UV-stabilized HDPE mesh stretched over orchard rows or a netting system to stop hailstones from bruising fruit and breaking branches. OMB Textiles knits it in a 3–8 mm mono+mono construction that absorbs impact while staying light enough to tension over large spans. Anti-hail netting is the most unforgiving product in the agricultural netting range: it hangs over an orchard for 5–8 years, and every season it has to hold the weight of a hail event that would destroy the crop under it. When a hail net fails, it does not fail at purchase time — it fails at the worst possible moment, three years in, over 20 hectares. That is why serious importers buy hail net from the hail net manufacturer, not from a trading listing. The two things that decide whether a net survives are invisible in photos: yarn tenacity from 100% virgin HDPE (recycled regrind loses a third of its tear strength by year two) and the UV-stabilizer package, which we dose per production batch in our Changzhou factory. We have knitted hail netting since 2003 for the hail belts of Spain, Italy, France and Greece as well as the US, Australia and Canada — the regions where a wrong spec is not a refund, it is a lost harvest.
Hail net is engineered against your local hail history. The core decision is mesh geometry and weight together: our standard range runs 45, 50 and 60 gsm in 3–8 mm triangular, diamond or square knits — the tighter diamond knits for high-frequency hail zones, the more open triangular knits where light transmission matters as much as protection. Every edge is reinforced with knitted eyelets, because a hail canopy is only as strong as its attachment points: the net almost never tears in the field, it tears at badly made edges. Send us your orchard layout — row spacing, block dimensions, hail history — and we will spec the knit, the edge reinforcement and the panel sizes as a canopy plan, not as rolls off a shelf.
Every hail net batch starts from virgin HDPE resin, is weight-checked inline against the ordered GSM, and is logged with its production batch number. We keep retention samples from every container, so if a net in your customer’s orchard ever raises a question in year four, we test the actual material that shipped — not a brochure spec. For a product with a 5–8 year service promise, batch traceability is not a nice-to-have; it is the only way a warranty conversation can be honest.
A 40’HQ carries 14–15 tons of hail netting — at 45–60 gsm that is roughly 230,000–330,000 m², or about 23–33 hectares of orchard canopy per container. MOQ is 2 tons with mixed panel sizes and knits in one shipment. Lead time is 25–35 days after deposit; payment T/T 30% deposit, 70% against documents, or 100% L/C at sight; samples are free, you cover the courier. For Southern-hemisphere seasons, order against your hail calendar — we will tell you the latest container date that lands your net before the season starts.
Hail netting is a structural textile: the net, not the posts, absorbs the impact energy of a storm. Our three standard grades — 45, 50 and 60 gsm — step up in tear and breaking resistance with weight, and every grade ships with reinforced selvedges and knitted-in eyelets so fixing points do not become tear origins under wind load. We do not quote one universal hail rating, because resistance depends on mesh size, installation angle and span; instead we send free samples (you cover the courier) so your team can cut, pull and inspect the knit before committing a container.
45–60 gsm covers commercial orchards: 45 gsm for moderate hail zones with good structure, 50–60 gsm for high-frequency hail belts and larger canopy spans. Mesh geometry matters as much as weight — diamond knits for severe zones, triangular where light transmission is a priority.
Our hail net is speced for 5–8 years of outdoor service, depending on GSM and site UV intensity. Lifespan is decided by the UV-stabilizer package and virgin resin — both are documented per batch with retention samples kept at the factory.
Yes — custom panel sizes are standard for us, with reinforced edges and knitted eyelets to your post spacing. Send the orchard plan and we return a canopy panel schedule with your quote.
