HDPE shade sails are tensioned fabric panels suspended between fixing points to create cool shade over patios, carports and other outdoor spaces. OMB Textiles knits them from 160–350 gsm 100% virgin HDPE, blocking 90–98% of UV while the open weave lets hot air escape. A shade sail is a structural product wearing a lifestyle product’s clothes: it looks like a simple triangle of fabric, but it lives under constant high tension, and the difference between a sail that holds its shape for years and one that sags into a water-pond after the first storm is decided at the cutting table and the sewing line — not in the fabric alone. As a shade sail manufacturer, we cut and sew every sail to order in our factory: 160–350 gsm knitted HDPE blocking 90–98% of UV, with webbing-reinforced curved edges, stainless D-rings at every corner, and tension engineered into the cut so the sail drums tight across the span instead of bagging in the middle.
Off-the-shelf sail sizes fit off-the-shelf patios — everything else needs a made-to-measure sail, and that is our standard service, not a premium one. Send the fixing points (or just the space dimensions and a sketch) and we cut triangles, squares and rectangles to your measurements, with concave edge curves calculated so the fabric tensions evenly to every corner. Color, GSM and edge hardware are chosen per program: heavier 280–350 gsm fabric for large commercial spans and car parks, 160–220 gsm for residential patios and playgrounds.
Our shade sail fabric is knitted HDPE with UV stabilization — the breathable structure that lets hot air escape upward instead of trapping it under the canopy, while blocking 90–98% of UV. That knitted breathability is also what makes a sail survive wind: a waterproof PVC canopy catches gusts like a solid wing, while a knitted sail spills them. For buyers serving the US and European patio and carport markets, we pack sails retail-ready with your private label, installation guide and hardware kits on request.
Custom-cut sails ship folded and boxed with your branding. A 40’HQ carries 14–15 tons; MOQ is 2 tons — several hundred residential sails or a mixed program of sizes — with mixed SKUs in one container. Lead time is 25–35 days after deposit, including cutting and sewing; payment T/T 30/70 or 100% L/C at sight; fabric samples and a cut-to-size prototype are available, you cover the courier.
