How Aluminet Cools: Reflect, Don’t Absorb

A black shade cloth blocks light by absorbing it — the cloth itself heats up, and some of that heat radiates down onto the crop. Aluminet’s metalised surface reflects solar heat away instead, so a greenhouse under aluminet can run roughly 8–10°F cooler through the hottest part of the day.

The same reflectivity works in reverse at night: aluminet acts as a thermal blanket, holding warmth in and stabilising the temperature swings that stress sensitive crops.

Match the percentage to your light budget first, then choose aluminet or black on the cooling question.

Because aluminet reflects and scatters light rather than simply stopping it, the light that does reach the crop is more even and more diffused. That means fewer hot spots, less leaf scorch, and light that reaches deeper into the canopy instead of only the top leaves — which translates directly into more uniform fruit and flowers.

Installation and Lifespan

For the best cooling, mount aluminet outside the glazing or hoops, with a small air gap, so the reflected heat never enters the structure.
